History and some maps of Latin America


The name ‘America’ is known to all of us. ‘America’ is a territory which is divided into two continents named ‘North America” and ‘South America’. ‘Latin America is another name of ‘South America’ with including some parts of 'North America'. The territory of ‘South America’ is named Latin America due to be spoken Romance languages (which are derived from Latin).  Exceptionally Suriname, Jamaica and Guyana are also regarded in Latin America being non Romance speaker countries because of having same political, economic, culture and present circumstances.  Especially Spanish, French, Portuguese are spoken in Latin America. It is a land of 3.9% of earth surface. Its land area is 21,069,500 square kilometer. Its population is more than 590 million according to the approximation. Latin America has some natural attractive and unique places. Some of them are given bellow:

1. The largest river (by volume) in the world, Amazon River.
2. The longest mountain range, the Andes.
3. The world highest waterfall, Angel falls, in Venezuela.
4. The driest place on the earth, the Tacoma Desert, in Chile.
5. The largest rainforest, the Amazon Rainforest.
6.  The highest capital city, La Paz, Bolivia.
7.  The highest commercially navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca.

In the 15th century, Latin America was colonized by European. Before the colonization, there was some well progressed civilization, the Aztec, Inca and Maya. In the beginning of the 19th century, most of the area of the Latin America became independent and revealed as new countries. But some areas are till now under colonization. Regard as likely, the Latin American G.D.P growth rate is at about 5.7% for 2010 and 4% in 2011.It has three big areas: the French Guiana, Falkland Islands and Galapagos Islands.
